About me

IMG_3594Hi, I'm Emily.

I stumbled into apparel sewing after grad school, when I suddenly had a lot of free time on my hands and no idea what to do with myself. After obsessively watching Project Runway for years, I decided to give making my own clothes a try. My grandmother taught me the basics of sewing in elementary school, so how hard could this be? Ha! I started with a craigslist sewing machine, pajama pants that the envelope promised could be sewn in 1 hour, and the cheapest (and not coincidentally, ugliest) quilting cotton at the store.

Several weeks and many ripped seams later, I had a terrible pair of pajama pants. (Tragically, I don't have a picture of the finished product). I kept going, slowly and painstakingly teaching myself through trial and error and a lot of googling.

Today, I still feel like each project is a risky venture, with an equal chance of success or failure. But that's what makes it fun!

I live in Atlanta, GA with my husband, Brian and our cat, Pippin. Pippin likes to be an adorable nuisance keep me company while I sew and photo bomb my pictures, so he shows up from time to time.

I also have waaaaaay too many hobbies. I also read a ton of books, knit, work out regularly, try new recipes, play video games, and watch lots of sci fi shows.
